Teenagers across the country are joining together to rebel. But, miraculously, they’re not rebelling against their parents.
This new rebellion actually encourages young people to reject the idea that their teen years are a vacation from responsibility and instead put their energy into working on real life challenges.
Called “Rebelution,” this new movement challenges young people to rebel against low expectations by doing hard things.
Alex and Brett Harris, twin brothers who launched Rebelution at the age of 17, have recently released their first book which promoters describe as a “handbook for rebelutionaries,” called “Do Hard Things: A teenage rebellion against low expectations.”
“Real life has already started! The teen years are our time to prepare and launch ourselves,” says Alex.
The brothers, who started the movement on the internet, define “hard things” as:
—things that are outside your comfort zone;
—things that go beyond what is expected or required;
—things that are too big to accomplish alone;
— things that don’t earn an immediate pay off;
—and things that challenge the cultural norm.
With more than 16 million hits in the past two years, www.TheRebelution.com is one of the most popular Christian websites for teens, but the Harris twins are quick to give all the glory to God. The site has dozens of blogs written by Alex, Brett and guest bloggers; links to ministries and organizations that teens can get involved with; and interactive forums. |

What do they believe?
Presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama recently sat down for a one-on-one talk with Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church in California and author of “The Purpose-Driven Life.”
The two men appeared on stage separately for one hour each at the event, dubbed the “the Saddleback Civil Forum on the Presidency.”
They were asked identical questions, and while their answers differed greatly, their style differed as well. Commentators noted that McCain delivered stump-speech one-liners, but often garnered laughter from the live audience, while Obama was observed to be reflective, causing some critics to say he was grappling for answers.
Although many conservative leaders had expressed doubt as to whether Warren would ask the “tough questions,” their doubts quickly dissipated early on in the event.
